Draft Done!
Celebrating today!
This is the face of the woman who completed her latest draft yesterday!!
That’s right, Thread of Fate, the Norse paranormal romance work in progress, is ready for the next phase of the adventure!
You may be wondering, “what phase is that?” For me, and this novel, it’s aligning with our agent.
Personally, I am thrilled about that. But I’m not heading into Query-land just yet. Right now, for the next day or so, I’m just celebrating this enormous win.
I’ve been working on this novel off and on over the last 18 months. I say off and on because there was a month or so where the book was in the hands of readers and I was awaiting their feedback before jumping back into edits and rewrites. When I wasn’t actively touching this novel, I was learning about the industry, reading, honing my craft, making writer friends, and working on other projects. I also took an entire month away from Anders’s and Thea’s tale for NaNoWriMo in November, where I had fun creating and playing in a completely different world before diving back into Thread of Fate for another round of edits.
I am a huge believer in celebrating wins. So, I’ve celebrated all along this process, with each draft, each revelation, and some days, even showing up to the page at all was the win. And they’ve all stacked up, each of those little wins. Each of those days of showing up and doing the work. Because of those myriad little wins, I now have the big win of having this novel in its current iteration!
I had celebratory chocolate cake for dinner last night. Just look at this beauty! I shared it with my guys - they ate actual dinner and had cake for dessert to celebrate this milestone with me. But I just ate the cake. Because, chocolate.
And yes, I had cake for breakfast this morning too. I followed it up with a hike at one of my beloved nature preserves, and later, I’ll be celebrating with friends. In fact, I have celebratory plans for the next few days.
I’ve reached an important milestone in this journey by completing this iteration of the novel. But, there are still many more miles to go before this book will live in the wild. I can’t wait for you to read it!! I’m excited about the adventures ahead of us, and you’d better believe I’m going to keep the celebrations going, every step of the way.
