Music
One of Sarah Dinan’s favorite modalities for storytelling is music, and she fell in love with singing at an early age. Though she didn’t originally set out to become a professional musician, she discovered through following her joy that one could actually have a career doing what they loved, and she does indeed love singing.
Drawn to the stories and melodies of Celtic music, Sarah began performing it professionally in the early 2000’s with the Austin Texas based Pan-Celtic group, Poor Man’s Fortune, before setting off on her own to front her own band. Since the launch of her solo career in 2003, Sarah has performed with some of Texas’s most respected Celtic and Folk musicians, produced two full-length albums, lent her voice to a variety of recording projects spanning musical genres, and received much critical acclaim.
Although she adores singing for a crowd, connecting with listeners and transcending time together while the music lasts, Sarah’s love of learning and following joy and curiosity has taken her in new directions, away from the stage. She is currently learning to play the cello, and continues to work in the studio, collaborating on a variety of projects with composers and other musicians, as well as doing the occasional voice over. While she is not currently booking live performances, some of Sarah’s early recordings with her band still exist in the wild, and can be found on all streaming platforms.
Portions of all music sales are used in support of initiatives working to end food insecurity and provide support for people in critical need. So, by streaming and/or purchasing any of Sarah Dinan’s music for your own listening pleasure, you are helping to improve the lives of people you may never meet. Thank you!
Praise for Sarah Dinan’s Music:
"Dinan's clear alto is perfect for the lilting Irish and Celtic tunes she sings, and rivals the quality of more famous singers in the genre such as Clannad and Sinead O'Connor." – Music Austin, Austin, Texas
"Her voice and interpretation of Irish music, particularly Gaelic verse, is nothing short of majestic." – 91.7FM KO-OP Donnelle McKaskle, Celtic Storm
"There is nothing like a deep woman's voice--especially when they are singing Celtic music. Sarah Dinan's purrs through many of the selections on From the Ashes, sometimes soothing, sometimes haunting, but always beautiful." – Celtic MP3s, Catherine L. Tully
“Vocalist Dinan carries herself with a confidence that belies her newcomer status, yet her Irish ballads, vocal rounds, and engaging stage presence are as welcome and refreshing as blue skies over the Emerald Isle." – Austin Chronicle, Margaret Moser
"Sarah has a voice that reminds me so much of my own exposure to the style of music that was the hallmark of the 1970’s British Folk Revival. At times she has the clear, pure sound of Cathie Ryan, other times the up-tempo light-hearted frivolity of Maddy Prior, and then the solemn beauty and expressiveness of Mary Black." – Southwest Celtic Music Association, John Hebley
“Sarah has a beautiful voice. It’s warm, lustrous, and very sexy.” – Celtic Music News
