The Beauty Of Each Moment
While I do enjoy summer, I’m glad to be missing out on the triple digit temperatures Central Texas is rocking right now. I’m Northern New Mexico with my family this week and we’ve been enjoying the change in scenery along with the cooler temperatures.
Between all things going on in the world, family, work, and traveling, I’ve found myself feeling rather discombobulated lately and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. I’d had plans to write more on this topic, but I think I’ll save it for another day. For now, I’ll just share some gorgeous nature with you. Nature is perhaps my favorite go-to for resetting and the nature here does not disappoint. I’m surrounded by pine and fir, spruce and aspen trees, deer and elk, wild birds, racoons and foxes. We’ve even seen evidence of bears (but no actual bear sightings yet). These are photos from the river near our cabin today. Taken just a few hours apart.
I will say, in a house full of boys and dogs (we are here with our nephews, their mom, and their dogs), silence is difficult to come by. But watching the sun light up the tops of the pine trees and seeing the striations of color in the rainbows deepen and expand as they stretch across the wide sky brings its own kind of Zen.
There have been so many moments of beauty, and laughter right along with the challenges and discomforts. And Nature, always my teacher, is showing me yet again that the whole is made up of many things. Though our lives are made up of moments, the moments are not our life. And though we are multifaceted, we are more than our thoughts and our cells, our bones and blood. We are more than the sum of our parts. Here’s to embracing it all, and discovering the beauty in each moment.
